Converge Community Church exists to strengthen our community by helping people discover their extraordinary destiny in Jesus Christ, connecting them with God, with others, and with meaningful purpose, and reaching our community with the practical love of Christ!
We believe church is not something you simply attend.
It is something you become part of and something that should effect more than just your spiritual life, It should effect every part of it…
We care deeply about real transformation. We want people to know God personally, grow in spiritual maturity, and experience freedom in every area of life.
We believe your identity as a child of God changes everything. From that identity flows courage, responsibility, growth, and calling. We preach and teach in a way that challenges people not to coast spiritually, but to press forward in faith.
Our goal is not to create spiritual dependence, but spiritual maturity. We equip people to grow beyond Sunday mornings, to pursue Christ daily, close unhealthy doors, and live as faithful representatives of Jesus in their homes and community.
We are committed to cultivating health in relationships, in church, in families, and in friendships. We believe spiritual maturity should produce relational maturity.
Whether in our homes, finances, work, or ministry, we seek to glorify God in every area of life.
From our beginning, Converge has looked for opportunities to serve our local community and beyond.
Converge Community Church launched in September 2014 in a movie theater in Scotia, NY, with a simple vision to reach people with the love of Jesus. As the church grew, we moved to the Dollar General plaza, where we spent nearly five years building a strong foundation of faith and community.
In September 2019, we transitioned to Bethel Full Gospel’s former sanctuary while seeking a permanent home. At the end of 2020, God opened the door for us to purchase a former bowling alley in Scotia, and we began renovations in early 2021 with the goal of preparing the space for ministry. By Easter 2022, we were able to begin using the building, only to soon face an unexpected challenge when part of the roof was torn off.
What followed was a journey marked by God’s faithfulness and provision time and time again. That journey has now led us into a new season, as in 2026 we were given the opportunity to step into a historic church facility in Rotterdam, NY, continuing the story of what God is building through Converge.
Lead Pastor
Pastor Sean has a heart to see people discover their purpose in Christ, connect in authentic community, and be sent out to reach others with the life-giving message of Jesus. His vision for Converge is simple: build people up in Christ, walk with them through real life change, and empower them to make a difference in the world around them.
Credentialed with the Assemblies of God, Pastor Sean has been in ministry since 2002, serving in youth ministry, church planting, and pastoral leadership.
Sean and his wife, Sarah, have three daughters. Since 2010, their family has walked a powerful journey of faith following a traumatic brain injury Sarah sustained in a car accident. Through it all, they have experienced God’s healing, grace, and ongoing work of restoration, and remain deeply grateful for His faithfulness every step of the way.
Worship Leader
Sherri Batson has a heart for the Lord and a calling to worship the Lord in song. She believes worship teams are filled with those whose faith meets their gifts. "Helping others to connect to Him through music is an honor and a blessing."
Sherri has been worshipping God in song for 5 years, starting with co-writing the theme song to the first WOW (Women Of Worship) conference. For the past 3 years, she has enjoyed ministering through song at The Albany City Mission as a member of the Christian band, 4ever1.
Sherri and her husband, Kevin, have been married for 25 years, and have 4 children they are raising in Scotia. She is excited to join the Converge team and minister within her community.
